They have an attention problem
Across teaching, training, and presentations, the default assumption is:
If the content is clear, people will engage
In practice, that rarely holds
People can understand something and still disengage
They can follow an explanation and still not apply it
The issue is not just what is being taught
It is how that experience is designed
The ACTIVE Framework is a simple, structured model for designing lessons, sessions, and presentations so that ideas are not just delivered—but understood, retained, and applied
It focuses on the experience of the learner or audience, not just the content

The elements are interconnected
Without Attention, nothing else is processed
Without Clarity, participation does not lead to understanding
Without Interaction, audiences remain passive
Without Energy, engagement declines over time
The framework is not a checklist
It is a way of designing the experience so that engagement is intentional, not accidental
Move from asking:
What content do I need to cover?
To asking:
How will this be experienced?
This shift changes how sessions begin, how ideas are introduced, and how people are involved
Applying the framework does not require complex redesign
Small changes create significant impact:
Start with a problem, not a topic
Make relevance explicit early
Design simple moments of participation
Reduce unnecessary information at the start
This framework is the foundation for all of my work
